This is a topic I get asked about a TON.

“How do I know when to hit a 3rd shot drop or drive?”

The answer actually comes down to your opponent.

If the opponent is established at the kitchen line, I would hit a drop.

The reason is that it’s going to be very easy for them to handle a fastball since they’re completely stationary!

On the other hand, if I hit a big serve and still see my opponents making their way up to the kitchen line, this is the perfect time to drive. They’re not established, so it’s going to be difficult for them to handle the ball.

Pro Tip: Instead of trying to blast the ball through their chest, aim at about 70% power and prioritize getting the ball to their knees!
