💪 What I’m working on right now
Proper Footwork at the Kitchen Line 🦶
The Week 11 exclusive video is all about using proper footwork, especially at the kitchen (or NVZ) line.
It’s SUPER important, but almost NO ONE talks about it. 🤷♂️
🦶 Move one foot at a time
If a ball lands in the kitchen, you shouldn’t ever move both feet 🦶🦶. Instead, you should take one step 🦶 (either with your right or left foot) into the kitchen and place your paddle under the ball.
⭐️ Take fewer steps, win more points
The person who takes fewer steps during a dink rally almost always wins. This is because it’s very difficult to be accurate and not pop the ball up when your body is moving. If you are taking a lot of steps, then you should focus on taking one bigger step to get to your position. 🦵
👎 Don’t lunge
The last part of proper footwork at the kitchen is that you shouldn’t lunge! What does this mean? Lunging is when you don’t move your feet at all (or don’t take a big enough step); instead, you just reach out with your paddle.
This is a surefire way to either pop the ball up or hit it into the top of the net.
Even if you do get it back over, your body is now completely off-balanced and your opponent can take advantage of it. 🙈
🔔 Practice
What’s good about practicing footwork is you can do it anywhere. Work on exactly what I show in the video – even if it’s in your office. Just make sure no one is watching. 😆
