👋

This past week has been very exciting for me!

Yesterday, I met with the photographer and shot for my soon-to-be-released book, 'Pickleball in 60 Seconds.'

I've been writing it for the past year, and having the photos REALLY makes it all feel real! I can't wait for you to check it out; you won't be disappointed.

This is by far one of the biggest accomplishments of my life.

More info to follow soon!

Now, let’s get to this week's video:

This past week, I dove deep into my mental game and came to a really important realization I wanted to share with you.

After breaking it down, I discovered this: To perform at your best in a tournament, you need to be in a state of flow.

The flow state is when you don't think, you just do. You don't question or weigh options; you let your body take over and do what it feels is best. I always knew this, but I struggled to get into the flow state. Here's what I discovered about myself that allows me to flow.

The #1 thing is that inner dialogue takes you out of the flow state and doesn't allow you to enter it.

If you're talking to yourself in your head, saying something like "don't miss the ball” or “use more shoulder, stop flicking with your wrist." This is how you make mistakes.

You cannot speak to yourself internally; your body can't operate.

#2 - Minimize discussion between points with your partner.

Strategize before the game and during timeouts. Between points is not the time (for the most part). Instead, be totally dialed in on every shot. When the point ends, tell your partner, ‘Good job’, and keep it at that.

This is what I discovered about myself; it may be different for you, however, this took me to a new level.

The next time you find yourself talking to yourself during a game, take a few deep breaths and remind yourself to just play. It might unlock a new level in you.

Reviews from You

Yes! It must be practiced so you feel comfortable with it. Also, I’m honored you’re asking about lessons. Unfortunately, with my schedule, I can’t really offer them right now. However, if that changes in the future, I will let you know! 😊
